A few years ago, Kelly (one of my best friends) and I started following Scrapbooker Ali Edwards. She offers different unique classes and one that caught our eye was One Little Word. Instead of picking a resolution, we picked a word.
About One Little Word®
A single word can be a powerful thing. It can be the ripple in the pond that changes everything. It can be sharp and biting or rich and soft and slow.
“In 2006 I began a tradition of choosing one word for myself each January – a word to focus on, mediate on, and reflect upon as I go about my daily life. My words have included play, peace, vitality, nurture, story, light, up, open and thrive. These words have each become a part of my life in one way or another. They’ve been imbedded into who I am and into who I’m becoming. They’ve been what I’ve needed most (and didn’t know I needed). They’ve helped me to breathe deeper, to see clearer, to navigate challenges, and to grow.” Ali Edwards
She offers monthly tutorials on how to design your book and capture your year. She sells kits as well as offers downloads to make your story complete. If you like this idea make sure you check it out. One Little Word.
Kelly and I only completed the project one year, but for the last five we have each picked a word to set the tone of the new year. This year for me it is simplify.
I think that most can understand the idea behind this. For me it means to clear off my calendar and learn to say no. Declutter my house and give it a deep clean. Focus on simple, healthy meals. Less complication means more enjoyment.
As you all set your goals and make your resolutions, what word defines your 2015? Happy New Years everyone! xoxo
