Covid-19 Lockdown

It’s week 14 of #LivingLovingWriting, well actually it’s more like week 14.5, because I totally forgot to post over the weekend. I’m not sure how or why, but I did. The only thing I can come up with is that everything is so different and uncertain, we’re all just kind of out of it.

I know I mentioned last week that I was laid off. They say it’s temporary, but who knows. I spent a lot of the week trying to get through to submit a claim for unemployment, and at the moment my status is pending, so fingers crossed this works out.

We’ve officially gone on a 30-day lockdown here in Tampa, and I leave the house once a week to get groceries. It’s hard to plan meals because I’m not sure of what the store will have in stock, but we’ve gotten creative and surprisingly it’s been fun. As for the isolation, I am introverted and this is like a dream come true. I know others don’t feel this way, but with a lot of prayers this will be over soon.

I did find toilet paper. I swear, it was like finding the “it” toy for Christmas and I was overjoyed.

We are now on to our second week of homeschool. My kids are rockstars at what they’ve had to do, and they’ve tolerated my crazy of going behind them every single day to make sure they haven’t missed anything. And I’m so proud of them because they haven’t cheated on anything, not even PE. They get up, get out in the backyard and they go for it. One day Davy even had to was 7k steps after he finished his day at 3:20. I’ve been refreshed on the area of a trapezoid, the definition of a memoir, listened to my son play his cello and speak Mandarin, and tomorrow Davy and I will be making a stop-motion animation in the driveway.

Next weekend is Easter, and we will not be spending it with our family’s. This makes incredibly sad and I know I’m not alone in this sentiment. But, it’s one more week we all remain healthy and safe, and that’s all we can hope for.

QOTD: Do you celebrate Easter? If so, what’s one tradition you will be missing this year? Me, we won’t get to go to church.
